ISSUES

Disability Rights

Bryan is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities in District 14 have the same opportunities as everyone else to live, work, and participate in community life. His plan addresses the barriers that still exist, focusing on real solutions that promote independence, opportunity, and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.

  1. Expanding Employment Opportunities and Economic Independence. Individuals with disabilities face higher unemployment rates, often due to systemic barriers and lack of tailored support. Bryan will prioritize partnerships with local businesses, vocational programs, and disability advocacy organizations to create job training programs specifically designed for people with disabilities. He will push for initiatives that provide mentorship, career counseling, and placement services for individuals with disabilities, empowering them to pursue careers in a variety of industries. Additionally, Bryan will advocate for tax incentives for businesses that hire people with disabilities, encouraging a more inclusive workforce that benefits both employers and employees.

  2. Enhancing Disability-Inclusive Healthcare and Support Services. Healthcare services must do more than just meet physical access needs; they should be tailored to the specific challenges faced by people with disabilities. Bryan will advocate for expanding healthcare programs that provide integrated care, ensuring that physical health, mental health, and social support services are coordinated to reduce gaps in treatment. He will also push for mobile health clinics that are fully equipped to serve individuals with disabilities, particularly those in underserved areas of District 14. By working with local healthcare providers, Bryan will ensure that adaptive technologies, chronic care management, and mental health resources are readily available for residents with disabilities, improving their overall quality of life.

  3. Promoting Full Community Inclusion and Civic Engagement. Bryan will advocate for increased city funding to support inclusive recreational programs, arts initiatives, and community events designed to encourage full participation by individuals with disabilities. Through these initiatives, Bryan will foster a community where everyone, regardless of ability, can engage fully in civic life and feel represented in local government.
