Seniors
Our seniors have contributed so much to our community, and they deserve to live with dignity, respect, and the care they need. Bryan is committed to ensuring that older adults in District 14 have access to affordable healthcare, housing, and services that support their well-being. His plan focuses on enhancing services for seniors, ensuring that they can continue to live vibrant and fulfilling lives.
Affordable Housing for Seniors. Many seniors face housing insecurity as rents and property taxes continue to rise. Bryan will work to expand affordable housing options specifically for seniors, ensuring that they can age in place without fear of being priced out of their homes. He will also advocate for stronger protections against eviction and work to ensure that all senior housing is accessible and equipped to meet the needs of older adults, including those with mobility challenges.
Affordable Healthcare. Healthcare is a fundamental right, and Bryan believes that seniors should never have to worry about how they will afford their medical needs. He will advocate for expanded access to affordable healthcare, including having more community health centers focused on senior care. Bryan’s will fight to ensure that seniors have access to preventative care and mental health services, so they can stay healthy and maintain their independence.
Increasing Senior Services and Caregivers. Bryan is committed to making sure that seniors in District 14 have access to the services and support they need. He will advocate for increased funding for senior centers, meal programs, and in-home care services that help seniors maintain their independence. Bryan will also push for better wages and training for caregivers, ensuring that those who support our elderly population are properly compensated and equipped to provide quality care.
Expanding Transportation Options for Seniors. Getting around the city can be difficult for many seniors, especially those with mobility challenges. Bryan will advocate for expanding transportation services like Access-A-Ride, ensuring that seniors have reliable and affordable transportation options. He will also work to make public transportation more accessible, pushing for improvements to subway stations and bus services that meet the needs of older adults.
Protecting Seniors from Scams and Abuse. Seniors are often targeted by scammers and face the risk of elder abuse. Bryan will work to strengthen protections for seniors by advocating for better enforcement of laws that target elder fraud and abuse. He will work with community organizations to create outreach programs that educate seniors about common scams and connect them with resources to report fraud or abuse. Bryan’s plan will prioritize the safety and well-being of our elderly residents.
