Supporting Small Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of our community, and Bryan understands their struggles firsthand. Growing up, Bryan saw his parents work tirelessly to keep their small business afloat, and he understands the unique challenges that small business owners face. This personal experience drives his commitment to offering real solutions, not just empty promises, to ensure that small businesses can thrive.
Reducing Excessive Fines & Ticketing. Bryan’s campaign is committed to reforming the city’s ticketing system to ensure that fines are fair and proportionate to the offense. He'll advocate for a grace period for first-time offenders to correct minor violations, allowing businesses to address issues without being unfairly penalized. Additionally, Bryan believes in the creation of a Small Business Advocate Office to act as a liaison between business owners and city agencies. This office would provide critical support, helping businesses navigate bureaucratic challenges and resolving disputes efficiently. Small businesses should be supported, not punished, for minor infractions, and this office will ensure they have a voice in city decisions that impact their ability to serve our community.
Reducing Retail Theft. Every business deserves to operate in a safe and secure environment. Bryan will advocate for the expansion of NYC’s Small Business Services programs to permanently include grants and tax incentives for businesses that invest in security upgrades, such as surveillance systems, better lighting, etc. In addition, he'll will work to improve pedestrian safety in busy commercial districts, ensuring that business corridors are safe for both employees and customers. These solutions will promote a secure and welcoming environment for businesses to thrive.
Increasing Access to Capital. Many small businesses with little credit history are often considered too risky by traditional lenders, leaving them denied access to the capital they need to grow. Without this support, emerging entrepreneurs are blocked from achieving the American dream. Bryan is committed to increasing access to capital by fostering public-private partnerships and working with nonprofits to connect small business owners with alternative funding options. Through these partnerships, entrepreneurs will have more avenues to secure loans and investments, giving them the resources to innovate and grow, regardless of their credit history.
